Tuned in for success

Exactly one year since Huddersfield and Ripponden Brass Band qualified to compete in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, they did it again.

On Sunday 5th March the band was awarded first place and the prize for best percussion section in this
year’s Yorkshire Regional Finals for section 3 and qualified to represent Yorkshire in the National Finals in September at the Centaur Centre, Cheltenam racecourse.
Under the direction of Musical Director Adam Bell, the band played an unbeatable performance of Stephen Bulla’s original composition, Chorale and Toccata in Huddersfield Town Hall’s spectacular concert hall. Stephen has worked alongside composer, John Williams transcribing works such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Star Wars.
Adjudicating the 3rd section contest were ex – BBC philharmonic Orchestra member, and All England International Masters Champion, Glyn Williams and Scottish Open Brass Band Champion, Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale.
From January 2024 the band will be promoted to the second section.
